Who can take part
WRO serves students aged 8 to 19, and up to 22 in the Future Engineers category. For RoboMission there are three age groups. For 2026 they are:
| Age group | Age |
|---|---|
| Elementary | 8 to 12 |
| Junior | 11 to 15 |
| Senior | 14 to 19 |
A RoboMission team has 2 or 3 students and a coach. One student and a coach do not count as a team. The minimum age for a coach at an international event is 18.
Categories
WRO runs four categories: RoboMission, RoboSports, Future Innovators and Future Engineers. In RoboMission, teams build and program an autonomous robot that solves tasks on a competition field. The categories other than RoboMission have their own rules on the WRO site.
Stages and dates
The WRO International Final 2026 is on 8 to 10 December 2026 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Teams qualify only through WRO competitions in their home country.
