Overview
PPPK (Pegawai Pemerintah dengan Perjanjian Kerja, Government Employee with a Work Agreement) is Indonesia's contract-based government employment scheme, run alongside CPNS as one of the two routes into Indonesian public service, coordinated nationally by BKN (Badan Kepegawaian Negara) through the SSCASN portal.

Who can apply
Eligibility (age range, educational qualification, and specific formation requirements) is set separately for each announced formasi (post opening) by the recruiting government agency, published through SSCASN. PPPK formations often include an existing-honorary-worker (tenaga honorer) priority category alongside general public applicants, depending on the agency and cycle.
Exam pattern
After administrative selection, candidates take a Seleksi Kompetensi, run as a Computer Assisted Test (CAT) by BKN, carrying 50% of the final score. It covers technical competency (knowledge and skills specific to the post), managerial competency (leadership, teamwork, responsibility), socio-cultural competency (national insight and diversity), and a computer-based interview assessing integrity and moral character. Candidates who rank highly enough (commonly up to five times the formation quota) may proceed to an additional technical test stage specific to the post.
Important dates
Each PPPK recruitment cycle (for example by ministry or sector, such as Kementerian HAM or Sekolah Rakyat formations) publishes its own schedule for registration, Seleksi Kompetensi (CAT), results, and any additional technical test, through SSCASN; for a 2026 cycle example, CAT competency selection results were announced before further technical-test scheduling in March 2026.
How to apply
Registration is online only, through the SSCASN portal, where candidates create an account, select a formasi, and upload required documents within the published registration window.
After the exam
Candidates who pass all stages are appointed as PPPK under a fixed-term work agreement with the recruiting government agency, rather than as permanent civil servants (PNS).
Preparation tips
Because the Seleksi Kompetensi CAT covers four distinct components (technical, managerial, socio-cultural, and an integrity interview) and carries half the final score, practising full CAT-format mock tests across all four areas, and checking whether the specific formation requires an additional technical test, is the standard preparation approach.
How is PPPK different from CPNS?
PPPK is contract-based government employment under a fixed-term work agreement, while CPNS leads to permanent civil servant (PNS) status; both are coordinated through SSCASN.
What does the PPPK Seleksi Kompetensi test cover?
Technical competency, managerial competency, socio-cultural competency, and a computer-based integrity interview, together carrying 50% of the final score.
