Overview
Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) is Indonesia's teacher professional education programme. It leads to a teacher certificate (sertifikat pendidik), which the Teachers and Lecturers Law (Law No. 14 of 2005) requires of teachers. The Directorate of PPG under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) runs the national selection.
This page covers PPG for prospective teachers (PPG Prajabatan, also called PPG bagi Calon Guru). It is for graduates who are not yet teaching. The ministry also runs a separate PPG route for serving teachers (PPG bagi Guru Tertentu), which is not covered here.
You apply to the national selection. If you pass, you study for two semesters at a university teacher-training institution (LPTK) that offers the programme. Study includes coursework, field teaching practice, a leadership project and mentoring.

Who can apply
For the 2026 selection, you need all of the following.
Indonesian citizenship.
You are not registered as a teacher or school head in Dapodik, or in Simpatika.
You are no older than 32 on 31 December 2026.
A bachelor's (S-1) or Diploma IV degree registered in PD-Dikti, or a foreign degree recorded in the ministry's foreign-diploma equivalence data.
A cumulative GPA (IPK) of at least 3.00.
You must sign an integrity pledge.
Graduates of both education and non-education degrees can apply. Your degree has to match the study field (bidang studi) you choose. The ministry provides a programme-linearity checker for this.
If you pass the final selection, you hand in three documents when you report to the university: a health certificate (physical and mental), a good-conduct certificate and a drug-free certificate.
Exam pattern
The selection has three stages, and failing one ends your participation.
Administrative selection: the ministry checks your registration data and documents.
Substantive test: a national test held after the administrative result. The ministry's pages we used do not describe its content.
Interview: held after the substantive test for those who pass it.
For 2026, the ministry opened 30 study fields, based on the teacher needs it projects for 2027 to 2028. They are 18 general fields and 12 vocational fields. Examples include primary school teaching (PGSD), Indonesian, English, mathematics and science, physical education, special education, automotive engineering, visual communication design, culinary, hospitality, software and game development, and computer network and telecommunications engineering.
Syllabus
This is the structure of the PPG programme itself, not the selection test. Courses fall into three groups.
Core courses (compulsory): Philosophy of Indonesian Education (2 credits), Understanding Learners and Learning (3), Teaching and Assessment Principles I and II (6), Social-Emotional Learning (3), PPG Seminar (2), Leadership Project (2), and Field Experience Practice I and II (12).
Selective courses: you pick from a national list of two-credit options. They include cross-subject literacy, new technology in teaching, introduction to education for children with special needs, curriculum design, differentiated learning, online and blended teaching, design thinking, computational thinking, education in special regions, and sociocultural perspectives in Indonesian education. Basic literacy is for primary and early-childhood fields only, English for primary teachers is for primary only, and vocational innovation, work culture and entrepreneurship education are for vocational fields only.
Elective courses: chosen from options your university offers, from the national list or its own.
Teaching practice starts early in the programme.
Marking and results
The ministry's pages say a candidate who fails any selection stage cannot go on to the next one. The final selection result is announced nationally, and successful candidates then confirm and are formally set as PPG students.

Fees
For 2026, the selection fee is Rp200,000, which covers the administrative selection and the substantive test.
The tuition is Rp8.5 million per semester, or Rp17 million for the two semesters. The government gives it as a scholarship to candidates who pass the selection and are set as PPG students, so these students do not pay it.
How to apply
Register through the official PPG portal at ppg.kemendikdasmen.go.id, using the menu for PPG bagi Calon Guru. Prepare your degree documents and ID before the window opens. Choose a study field that matches your degree.
After the exam
Candidates who pass the final selection confirm their participation, are set as PPG students, report to their university and attend an orientation before lectures begin. For the 2024 round, orientation ran from 2 to 6 September 2024 and lectures began on 9 September 2024.
The programme runs for two semesters. Completing it earns the teacher certificate.
