The two Speaking tasks
| Task | What happens | Time to answer |
|---|---|---|
| Listen and Repeat (7 sentences) | You see a picture of a place such as a library or a gym, and a guide there says 7 sentences that grow longer. The sentences are not shown; repeat each one exactly. | About 8 to 12 s each |
| Take an Interview (4 questions) | An interviewer asks 4 questions on one theme, from your own experience to broader opinions. | 45 s each |
There is no preparation time: recording starts as soon as each sentence or question ends. Each answer is scored 0 to 5.
Tips
- In Listen and Repeat, keep the grammar words (a, the, has been): small changes cost a point.
- In the interview, answer straight away with a clear point, then give a reason and an example.
- Use the full 45 seconds, but a steady pace with natural pauses scores better than rushing.
Frequently asked questions
Is the interviewer live?
On test day the interviewer is prerecorded and does not react. Padhantu mocks and practice sets work the same way. For extra practice, the live interview mode follows up on what you say.
