Overview
The Policía Nacional del Perú (PNP) recruits new police officers through admission processes run by its Dirección de Educación y Doctrina (DIREDDOC PNP). There are two entry routes:
the Escuela de Oficiales (EO-PNP), which trains future commissioned officers ("oficiales de Armas")
the Escuelas de Educación Superior Técnico Profesional (EESTP-PNP), which train future non-commissioned officers ("suboficiales de Armas")
Both routes use the same sequence of eliminatory stages: height and weight, documents, medical, physical and psychometric tests, an academic exam, an interview, and a drug test. Applicants who pass every stage are ranked on a final merit table, and places go in strict order of merit.
This page describes the Ordinary Admission Process 2026 (Promoción 2027) to the Escuela de Oficiales, and the Extraordinary Admission Process 2026 to the EESTP. Official information is published free of charge on gob.pe/pnp and the DIREDDOC website, and the PNP does not sell printed prospectuses.

Levels or stages
All stages are compulsory and eliminatory, and they run in this order. The figures below are from the 2026 Escuela de Oficiales prospectus. The EESTP process uses the same stages.
1. Height and weight
A selection board measures you barefoot. The result is APTO (fit) or INAPTO (unfit). Measurements from earlier processes or private clinics are not accepted.
2. Documents
Applicants found APTO hand in a document folder. It holds two passport-size colour photos, an original birth certificate, police, criminal, judicial and military-police record certificates no more than three months old, the official secondary school certificate (validated by Peru's Ministry of Education if earned abroad), and the sworn statements downloaded from the SIPROAD system. A complete folder earns an applicant number and an applicant card.
3. Medical examination
Run by the PNP health service in two phases. The first covers laboratory tests, imaging and clinical checks across several specialties. The second is a mental health assessment: psychological tests and an interview, with referral to a psychiatrist if risks are found. The PNP tattoo rules are applied at this stage.
4. Physical fitness and psychometric tests
Physical fitness: each event must be passed with at least 11 out of 20.
| Men | Women |
|---|---|
| 100 m sprint | 100 m sprint |
| 1,000 m run | 1,000 m run |
| Pull-ups on a bar | Sit-ups |
| 25 m freestyle swim | 25 m freestyle swim |
Psychometric test: 150 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours, measuring thinking skills and personality traits. The result is APTO or INAPTO.
5. Academic aptitude and knowledge exam
100 multiple-choice questions in 3 hours, marked on Peru's 0 to 20 scale, with a pass mark of 11.00.
| Part | Area | Questions |
|---|---|---|
| General knowledge (70%) | Mathematics | 15 |
| General knowledge (70%) | Communication | 15 |
| General knowledge (70%) | Social sciences | 10 |
| General knowledge (70%) | Science, technology and environment | 15 |
| General knowledge (70%) | Person, family and human relations | 15 |
| Academic aptitude (30%) | Mathematical reasoning | 15 |
| Academic aptitude (30%) | Verbal reasoning | 15 |
6. Trust test and personal interview
The trust test uses a polygraph run by the PNP's intelligence directorate. Taking it is voluntary, and the result is only for reference, so it does not eliminate anyone. The personal interview, run by a selection board, looks at your education, how you present yourself, your lifestyle, motivation, vocation and integrity. It is marked from 0 to 20, with a pass mark of 11.00.
7. Drug test
A toxicology test for illegal drugs, run by the PNP's forensic directorate. The result is eliminatory.
Syllabus
The 2026 academic exam topics include:
Mathematics: algebra, angles in a triangle, Pythagoras' theorem, trigonometric functions
Communication: spelling rules, the sentence, narrative structure, Peruvian literature
Social sciences: human evolution, the Tahuantinsuyo, national parks and reserves, ecosystems and sustainable development, road networks
Science, technology and environment: matter and energy, the solar system, the periodic table, plants and photosynthesis, natural hazards and climate change
Person, family and human relations: a culture of peace, human rights, personal and national identity, self-esteem, family roles and family violence
Mathematical reasoning: sequences, logic, setting up equations, fractions, percentages

Marking and results
The final mark is a weighted average of three results:
| Component | Weight |
|---|---|
| Physical fitness | 2 |
| Academic aptitude and knowledge | 3 |
| Personal interview | 2 |
The final mark must be at least 11.00 out of 20. Bonus points apply only if you have passed every stage, and you can claim only one bonus. Examples include 20% of the final mark for those who did at least three months of barracks-based military service, and 2 points out of 20 for serving PNP suboficiales and EESTP students applying to the Escuela de Oficiales. If two applicants are tied for the last place, the higher academic exam mark wins, then the physical mark, then the interview mark.

How to apply
Pre-register online in the PNP's online admissions system (SIPROAD), available from gob.pe/pnp and the DIREDDOC website. Choose the school, enter your details exactly as they appear on your DNI (they are checked against the RENIEC register), add family and education details, and print your pre-registration code.
Go to the venue on the date set for your surname group, with your code, your original DNI and your payment voucher. For the 2026 Escuela de Oficiales process, all stages took place at the EESTP PNP Puente Piedra, Km 27.5 of the Panamericana Norte, Lima.
At every stage except the physical test, men wear a suit and women a dark trouser or skirt suit.
After the exam
For the Escuela de Oficiales, places go in strict merit order from the single final merit table. Admitted applicants must report on the set entry date, or they lose their place to the next person on the table. Escuela de Oficiales applicants who pass overall but do not win a place can choose to join an EESTP in the same year, after passing a medical check and paying the EESTP fees.
For the 2026 EESTP extraordinary process, the PNP announced 6,000 places spread across its EESTP campuses. The campuses are in Arequipa, Ayacucho, Chiclayo, Chimbote, Cusco, Huancayo, Huánuco, Ica, Iquitos, Lima (Puente Piedra and San Bartolo), Piura, Puno, Tarapoto and Trujillo. Men are ranked by campus, and women on a single national table.
Preparation tips
The academic exam carries the highest weight in the final mark (3 of 7), and 70% of it is school-level general knowledge, so revise secondary school mathematics, communication, social sciences and science. Train early for the physical tests, including the 25 m swim. Each event is eliminatory, and the swim is marked as a fail if you cannot swim. Get your record certificates late enough that they are under three months old when you hand them in.
What is the age limit for the PNP Escuela de Oficiales?
For civilian applicants in the 2026 ordinary process, 17 to 22 on 31 December 2026. EESTP students can apply up to age 24, and PNP suboficiales up to age 25.
What is the minimum height for PNP admission?
For the 2026 Escuela de Oficiales process, 1.66 m for men and 1.61 m for women. For the 2026 EESTP extraordinary process, 1.64 m for men and 1.58 m for women.
How is the academic exam structured?
100 multiple-choice questions in 3 hours: 70% general knowledge and 30% academic aptitude, marked out of 20, with a pass mark of 11.
Is the polygraph test eliminatory?
No. The trust (polygraph) test is voluntary and its result is only for reference. The personal interview that follows it is eliminatory.
