Overview

The Escola de Especialistas de Aeronáutica (EEAR), in Guaratinguetá, São Paulo, trains career sergeants for the Brazilian Air Force. Entry is through an admission exam (Exame de Admissão) for the Curso de Formação de Sargentos (CFS). The Air Force runs one for each semester intake, so a CFS 1 and a CFS 2 notice appear for each year. This page follows the notice for CFS 2/2027, with the CFS 1/2027 exam listed on the same official portal.

The CFS is a boarding course that lasts about two years and covers general, military and technical-specialised instruction. Its specialist training is recognised by the Ministry of Education as a technical course at upper-secondary level.

Who can apply

To register, a candidate must be Brazilian by birth, a volunteer, aware of the rules in the notice, and able to pay the fee (unless exempt). Applicants under 18 need written authorisation from a legal guardian, both for the written exam and for the later phases.

To be eligible for enrolment, a candidate must also:

  • have completed secondary education (or hold an ENCCEJA certificate for it);

  • be at least 17 and not turn 25 by 31 December of the year of enrolment;

  • be up to date with electoral duties and, for men, military service;

  • not be facing criminal proceedings, and have no recent conviction or public-property sanction as the notice describes;

  • pass every stage and rank within the number of places.

Options and specialties

Candidates pick one of two options at registration.

  • Opção 1: no specialty is chosen up front. After the final reporting, candidates are placed into specialties by exam rank, the order of preference they give, and the places available.

  • Opção 2: the candidate applies directly to one fixed specialty. Air Traffic Control is in this option.

Places are also reserved: 30 per cent for black, Indigenous and quilombola candidates (25, 3 and 2 per cent respectively), under Law 15.142 of 2025.

Exam pattern

The written exam (Provas Escritas) has four subjects: Portuguese, English, Mathematics and Physics. All questions are multiple choice with four options and one correct answer. The exam lasts 4 hours 20 minutes. English is at basic level for Opção 1 and at intermediate level for the Air Traffic Control specialty.

SubjectFormat
Língua PortuguesaMultiple choice, four options
Língua InglesaMultiple choice, basic level (Opção 1) or intermediate level (Air Traffic Control)
MatemáticaMultiple choice
FísicaMultiple choice

Marking and results

Each subject is scored from 0 to 10. A candidate needs at least 5.0 in every subject, and an average of at least 5.0, to count as having passed the written exam. The final average is the simple mean of the four scores. Candidates are ranked by that average, separately for each option. Ties are broken by the highest score in Portuguese, then Mathematics, Physics and English, and finally by age.

The written exam is eliminatory and classificatory. The phases that follow are all eliminatory only: health inspection, psychological aptitude exam, physical conditioning test (TACF), and document validation with enrolment eligibility.

Important dates

For the CFS 2/2027 exam:

  • Registration: 11 June to 2 July 2026.

  • Fee payment: 11 June to 9 July 2026.

  • Written exam: 22 November 2026.

Fees

The registration fee for CFS 2/2027 was R$ 100.00. Exemption was limited to people registered in CadÚnico (low-income families) and bone-marrow donors registered with bodies recognised by the Ministry of Health.

How to apply

Create a candidate account on the SGCEM portal at ingresso.eear.fab.mil.br, then fill in the registration request form during the open window and pay the fee. The portal also hosts the full notice, its forms and model documents, and past papers.

After the exam

Candidates who pass the written exam and rank within the places are called for health inspection, the psychological exam, the physical test and document validation, in that sequence of eliminatory phases. Those who clear them all enrol in the CFS at Guaratinguetá.

Preparation tips

  • Prepare the four written subjects equally, since 5.0 is the floor in each one.

  • Use the past papers the EEAR publishes on the portal to learn the style.

  • Train for the physical conditioning test in parallel, as failing it ends the process.

Can I choose my specialty?

Under Opção 2 you apply to one fixed specialty at registration. Under Opção 1 you list your preferences, but placement depends on your rank and on the places available.

Is there a second sitting if I miss a stage?

No. The notice says there is no second call for any stage and no postponement except in the cases it names.
