Overview
Banco do Brasil, a large Brazilian state-controlled bank, hires its entry-level staff, called Escriturário, through a national public contest. The role is split into two specialties: Agente Comercial (commercial agent) and Agente de Tecnologia (technology agent). Only completed secondary education is required. The bank's own site and the exam board's site could not be opened with a verified connection when this page was checked. The pattern below is read from a copy of the 2022 opening notice hosted by a preparation site, and the rest from news reports, so confirm details in the current notice.
According to an article dated 31 August 2026, there was no open notice at that time. The previous contest's validity had ended and its reserve list was used up, so the bank was expected to hold a new one, with the exam board and number of places still to be set.
Previous contests
2022/2023 contest (Edital nº 01 - 2022/001, run by Fundação Cesgranrio): more than 6,000 places, immediate and reserve list, for the two specialties, with the objective test and essay held on 23 April 2023.
2021 contest: 4,480 places, half immediate and half reserve, for the same two specialties.
Who can apply
The 2022 notice asked for a secondary education certificate or diploma from a recognised institution as the basic requirement. Reports add basic computing knowledge and communication skills. Check the notice for age, nationality and other conditions.
Selection process
The 2022/2023 contest had four stages: the objective tests (eliminatory and classificatory), a written essay (redação, eliminatory), a check of self-declaration for black candidates who used reserved places (eliminatory), and admission procedures with a medical examination run by the bank (eliminatory). Candidates were called to the last stage in order of rank, as the bank needed staff. Agente de Tecnologia places were all for one technology micro-region, while Agente Comercial places were spread across the country's regions.
Exam pattern
The objective test had 70 multiple-choice questions with five options each and one correct answer. It was worth 100 points: 25 basic-knowledge questions (32.5 points) and 45 specific-knowledge questions (67.5 points). Objective test and essay were taken at the same time, within 5 hours, and only the essays of the best-ranked candidates were marked.

The essay was a prose argumentative text worth 100 points, and candidates below 70 points were eliminated. It was assessed on how well it fitted the topic and the text type, use of cohesion, selection and organisation of arguments, and command of standard written Portuguese.
Marking and results
In the 2022 notice, a candidate was eliminated with less than 50 per cent of the points in the basic test, less than 50 per cent in the specific test, or less than 50 per cent overall. Ties were broken by subject scores, listed in the notice. Take cut-offs for any new contest from its own notice.
Important dates and fees
No dates or fee for a new contest were confirmed in the sources. For the 2022/2023 contest, registration ran from 23 December 2022 to 24 February 2023 (fee exemption requests until 3 January 2023), and the fee was R$ 50.00 under the opening notice. The notice said the contest stayed valid for one year after the final results, extendable once for the same period.
How to apply
Registration is online, on the exam board's site named in the notice, once it is published. In 2022 you chose the region and exam city at registration, and could not change it afterwards. The contest is national, with exams across Brazil.
After the exam
The 2022 notice gave a starting pay of R 4,189.05 base (R$ 4,314.69 after a 90-day trial period) for a 30-hour week, with meal allowances, profit sharing, supplementary pension, health and dental cover. New staff begin with onboarding and practical training, and usually start in customer service roles. Sales targets are part of the job, and career steps run from Agente Comercial to assistant, relationship manager and branch manager.
Preparation tips
For Agente Comercial, computing, banking knowledge and sales and negotiation together make up 40 of the 45 specific questions.
For Agente de Tecnologia, IT alone makes up 35 of the 45 specific questions.
Practise a full argumentative essay, since it was eliminatory in the last contest.
