Overview
Government primary schools in Bangladesh hire assistant teachers through a recruitment process run by the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) under the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. The process has a written test followed by a viva. The Daily Star reported in 2022 that for Assistant Teacher Recruitment-2020 the written results were published on the DPE site, with the viva to follow.
This page is thin on purpose. The DPE site could not be read, and secondary reports disagree on the mark split between the written test and viva, so only widely consistent points are included. Read the current DPE circular for the exact format.

A bachelor's degree (pass or honours) from a recognised university, a four-year diploma in primary education, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the government.

Exam pattern
The written test covers Bengali, English, mathematics and general knowledge (Bangladesh and international affairs). The same guide reports a 90-minute paper. Marks per subject and the viva weight vary between reports and between rounds, so confirm them in the circular.
How to apply
The guide says applications are normally submitted through the Teletalk portal at dpe.teletalk.com.bd, and reports a fee of BDT 220 including the service charge.
Is the exam format fixed?
No. Reports of different rounds give different mark splits, so rely on the circular for the round you are applying to.
