Overview

Uji Kompetensi Keahlian (UKK) is the competency assessment taken by students in Indonesia's Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK, vocational senior high schools) at the end of their studies. It tests whether a student has the practical skills and knowledge expected of their vocational specialisation (kompetensi keahlian), such as automotive engineering, accounting, culinary arts or nursing.

Who can apply

UKK is taken by SMK students in their final year, as a required part of completing their vocational programme, in the specialisation they have studied throughout school.

Exam pattern

UKK combines a practical skills test, where students perform tasks representative of their vocational field, with a verification of underpinning knowledge. Assessment is often conducted with an external examiner from industry or a partner institution (penguji eksternal) alongside school assessors, to check that the standard matches real workplace expectations.

Marking and results

Students are assessed against competency standards for their vocational field; results feed into the student's vocational competency certificate issued alongside their SMK graduation documents.

How to apply

UKK is organised by each SMK for its own final-year students as part of the national school calendar; students do not apply independently.
