Theory exams: assessed online, testing understanding of musical notation and theory.
Drama and Communication grades: building confidence, creativity and communication skills.

Diploma exams: for advanced students, including those working towards teaching qualifications.
Exam pattern
RIAM offers a choice of in-person exams or video submissions, with published syllabi and publications to guide preparation. RIAM says candidates receive feedback from experienced musicians. The new Performance Grades let a candidate swap sight-reading, scales and aural tests for one extra performance piece.
