Overview
The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) conducts IT literacy and IT-skills examinations recognised by India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Among these, the Course on Computer Concepts (CCC) is a basic computer literacy certification, and O Level is a foundational diploma-level IT programme, one level below A Level in NIELIT's structure.

Who can apply
CCC has no minimum or maximum age limit and no educational qualification requirement, since it is designed as a basic digital literacy course. Candidates can appear either through a NIELIT-approved institute or directly as an individual applicant.
Exam pattern
CCC covers 90 hours of instruction (30 hours theory, 60 hours practical) built around everyday computer tasks such as word processing, web browsing, email and basic presentations or databases. The exam itself is 100 objective-type questions of one mark each, to be completed in 90 minutes, with no negative marking.
Marking and results
A CCC candidate needs at least 50% to pass. Marks above that translate to a grade: D (50–54%), C (55–64%), B (65–74%), A (75–84%) and S (85% and above). Results are typically declared within about 30 days of the exam cycle ending, and successful candidates get a digitally signed e-certificate from NIELIT's certificate portal.
Fees
The CCC exam fee is Rs 500, payable online at registration.
How to apply
Registration for CCC and O Level is entirely online through the NIELIT Student Information and Enrollment System at student.nielit.gov.in. After registering, candidates receive login credentials by email and must activate their account before applying for an exam. CCC exams are typically held monthly, on the first Saturday of the month.
Preparation tips
Since CCC has no eligibility bar, focus preparation on the syllabus published on the NIELIT website rather than assuming prior computer knowledge is enough.
For O Level, check the current cycle's syllabus and dates on student.nielit.gov.in, as NIELIT runs it in fixed exam cycles rather than monthly like CCC.
