Overview
The Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) is a regional competency-based vocational qualification recognised across CARICOM member states, certifying occupational competence in trades and service occupations. It is awarded through National Training Agencies in participating countries, coordinated regionally to allow CVQ holders' qualifications to be recognised across the Caribbean Community.

Who can apply
Candidates can be students in a CVQ-aligned training programme or workers with relevant job experience, since CVQ assessment is competency-based and also available through Recognition of Prior Learning for experienced workers without formal training.
Levels or stages
CVQ is awarded at Levels 1 to 5, broadly progressing from basic operative-level competence (Level 1) to supervisory and specialist-level competence (Level 5), each tied to defined occupational standards for the specific occupation.
Exam pattern
Assessment follows the competency-based model used across CARICOM National Training Agencies: candidates are assessed against defined competency units for their occupation through practical demonstration, portfolio evidence and/or oral questioning, carried out by accredited assessors.
Marking and results
Candidates are assessed as competent or not yet competent against each required competency unit; achieving all units for a level leads to the CVQ at that level, recognised across participating CARICOM states.
How to apply
Candidates apply through their country's National Training Agency (for example, Jamaica's HEART/NSTA Trust or Trinidad and Tobago's NTA) for the occupation and level they wish to be certified in.
