Overview
UPTET (Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test) is administered by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), whose official site is upessc.up.gov.in. UPESSC was constituted under the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission Act, 2023, notified on 21 August 2023, with its own rules notified on 13 December 2023; it now handles teacher and principal selection processes, including UPTET, that were earlier spread across other UP bodies. The UP Department of Basic Education's site, updeled.gov.in, also carries UPTET candidate services.
For the 2026 cycle (UPTET-2026), online applications ran from 27 March 2026, extended to 3 May 2026, and the written exam was held on 2 and 3 July 2026 in two shifts each day, with the morning shift from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. The result was declared on 26 August 2026, and eligibility certificates for successful candidates became downloadable from upessc.up.gov.in from 8 September 2026.
Note
UPESSC also introduced a separate "Special TET" (Vigyapan 03/2026) in 2026, alongside the regular UPTET. Check the current notice on upessc.up.gov.in to see which one applies to you.
Exam pattern
UPESSC's UPTET-2026 result notice refers to the exam by level; other pattern details (number of questions, marks, duration, pass percentage) were not confirmed on the open pages read for this note.

UPTET-related notifications, application windows and candidate services (including certificate download) are handled through upessc.up.gov.in, with updeled.gov.in also listing UPTET as an available service.
Preparation tips
Rely on upessc.up.gov.in as the primary official source for UPTET notifications, schedules and certificate downloads, since responsibility for the exam has moved between UP government bodies over the years and is now with UPESSC.
Check both upessc.up.gov.in and updeled.gov.in if you can't find what you need on one, since UPTET-related services currently appear on both.
Confirm whether a given cycle's notice is for the regular UPTET or the separate Special TET UPESSC introduced in 2026 — they are different exams.
Which body currently conducts UPTET?
The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), via upessc.up.gov.in, since its constitution under the UP Education Service Selection Commission Act, 2023.
Where do I download my UPTET eligibility certificate?
Through the official UPESSC site, upessc.up.gov.in — for the 2026 cycle, certificates became downloadable from 8 September 2026.
Is updeled.gov.in also relevant to UPTET?
Yes — it is the UP Department of Basic Education's site and lists UPTET as one of its candidate services, alongside UPESSC's own site.
Is UPTET the same as the Special TET UPESSC announced in 2026?
No. UPESSC ran them as separate exams in 2026, each with its own notification — check upessc.up.gov.in to see which one your application is for.
