Who can apply
Applicants must be Nepali citizens, generally within the age range set for the specific recruitment round, meet height, chest-measurement and physical fitness standards, hold the minimum educational qualification set for the specific cadre, and have no disqualifying criminal record.
For the constable post (Police Jawan, Janapad group) in the notice of 2082/06/10 BS (about September 2025, the Nepali calendar year 2082 is used by the source), the requirements were: Nepali citizenship, age 18 to under 23 by the last registration date (up to 25 for serving non-rank police staff), a pass in at least class 8 or equivalent, eyesight no worse than minus 2 or plus 2, and minimum height of 5 ft 2 in for men and 5 ft for women. Check the current notice for the present intake.
Exam pattern
Selection generally includes a physical fitness and measurement test, a written examination covering general knowledge and reasoning, a medical examination, and an interview, with exact structure set out in the specific recruitment announcement and entry cadre.
Fees and dates
In the same 2082 BS notice, the constable application fee was Rs 300, with 1,553 posts in total (837 of them open competition). Registration ran from 2082/06/19 to 2082/07/28 BS, roughly 6 October to 14 November 2025. The notice listed the stages as a preliminary health and physical fitness test, a detailed health examination, a written examination run by the Public Service Commission, and an interview. Results were published after each stage, and only those who passed went on.
How to apply
The 2082 BS constable notice had candidates register in person with original documents at a listed provincial police training centre or district police office. Follow the notice for the specific cadre and intake.
After the exam
Candidates who pass all stages attend training at a police training centre before being posted to operational police duty.
Preparation tips
Because physical fitness and measurement standards are assessed early in the selection process, confirming eligibility on height, chest measurement and fitness standards before investing heavily in written-exam preparation avoids disqualification later in the process.
