Overview

The Forces Armées Royales (FAR) are Morocco's armed forces, recruiting new personnel across the Army, Navy, Air Force and Royal Gendarmerie through competitive concours for several entry levels, including enlisted soldiers, non-commissioned officers, and officer-cadet entry (for example through the Académie Royale Militaire), announced on the FAR's own recruitment channels.

Who can apply

Eligibility (educational qualification, age range, height and physical fitness standards, and nationality) is set out separately for each announced concours and entry level, generally requiring Moroccan nationality and medical/physical fitness for military service.

Exam pattern

Selection generally includes a written or computer-based test (general knowledge and, for officer-level entry, subject-specific academic content), a physical fitness test, a medical examination, a psychological/aptitude assessment, and an interview, with exact structure set out in the specific concours announcement.

How to apply

Applications are submitted following the procedure set out in the specific concours announcement published by the FAR, within the registration window for that entry level and branch.

After the exam

Candidates who pass all stages begin training specific to their entry level and branch (basic training for enlisted/NCO entry, or academy training for officer-cadet entry) before being posted to a unit.

Preparation tips

Because eligibility and test content differ by entry level (enlisted, non-commissioned officer, or officer-cadet) and by branch, confirming the specific concours' requirements and test structure before preparing avoids wasted effort on the wrong entry level's content.

Does FAR recruitment cover officer-cadet entry as well as enlisted roles?

Yes, FAR recruits across multiple entry levels, including enlisted soldiers, non-commissioned officers, and officer-cadet entry through institutions such as the Académie Royale Militaire.

What does FAR selection typically include?

A written or computer-based test, a physical fitness test, a medical examination, a psychological/aptitude assessment, and an interview.
