Who can apply
Candidates must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Biology as the third subject. WBJEEB requires a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates), and candidates must be at least 17 years old as of 31 December of the admission year.
Exam pattern
WBJEE 2026 is an offline, OMR-based exam held in two papers on the same day.
| Paper | Subjects | Timing | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paper I | Mathematics | 11 am – 1 pm | 2 hours |
| Paper II | Physics and Chemistry | 2 pm – 4 pm | 2 hours |
Syllabus
The syllabus is based on the West Bengal Higher Secondary (Class 11–12) curriculum for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, published by WBJEEB in its information bulletin each year.
Marking and results
WBJEEB publishes provisional and final answer keys online, with a window for candidates to raise objections before results are declared. WBJEEB prepares a merit list/rank based on the combined score from both papers, used for admission counselling.
Important dates
For WBJEE 2026, online applications were open from 10 March to 5 April 2026, with a correction window from 7 to 9 April 2026, and the exam was held on 24 May 2026. WBJEEB notifies the confirmed schedule for each cycle on wbjeeb.nic.in.
Fees
For WBJEE 2026, the application fee was ₹500 for general-category male candidates, ₹400 for general-category female candidates and reserved-category male candidates, ₹300 for reserved-category female candidates, and ₹200 for third-gender candidates.
How to apply
Candidates apply online on the WBJEEB portal (wbjeeb.nic.in), filling in personal, academic and category details, uploading the required photograph, signature and documents, and paying the fee online. A correction window is provided after registration to fix errors before the deadline.
After the exam
After WBJEEB declares the result and rank, candidates take part in centralised counselling conducted by WBJEEB, where they fill in college and branch preferences online. Seats are allotted round by round based on rank, category and preferences, and candidates confirm admission at the allotted institute.
Preparation tips
Since Mathematics is a full separate paper worth as much as Physics and Chemistry combined, dedicating focused practice time to Mathematics helps balance overall performance. Solving past WBJEE papers under the actual two-hour-per-paper timing builds pace, and sticking to the West Bengal Higher Secondary syllabus keeps preparation aligned with the actual exam.
