Overview

CTEVT (Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training) in Nepal offers certificate and diploma programmes in engineering, health, agriculture, hospitality and other technical fields. Admission works differently for full fee-paying seats and for classified (free) scholarship seats. This page is based on published copies of the CTEVT notices on Edusanjal, an education portal. CTEVT's own website (ctevt.org.np) opened when this page was reviewed, but the admission notice and entrance exam details were not found on it, so confirm details with the Council.

Levels or stages

Full fee-paying seats

For the 2083/84 academic year, CTEVT's notice says eligibility for admission is decided from the average grade point (GPA) in the SEE exam. No written entrance test is described for these seats. Applicants with percentage marks have them converted to grades using the Government of Nepal letter grading directive. Government and community school graduates get 1 grade point added, and institutional school graduates get 0.85. Ties are broken by grades in Mathematics, Science and English in that order, then by marginalised rural area, then by earlier date of birth.

Classified scholarship seats

The entrance exam is described for scholarship programmes under the Council's 2081 directive on diploma and certificate entrance exams, scholarships and admission. The exam is paper-based and uses objective questions.

Answer sheets for the scholarship exams are read by OMR machines. Candidates must mark the question paper set (A or B) on the answer sheet, or the sheet gets no marks. Multiple marks or scratched-out answers are disqualified. Ties are resolved by score to more than two decimal places, then SLC/SEE results, then Mathematics, Science and English results, then government or community school graduates, then age.

Who can apply

For full fee-paying diploma programmes with SEE grades, you need to have passed SEE or equivalent with English, Mathematics and Science. The minimum is 2.0 GPA for health-related programmes and 1.6 GPA for other programmes. For applicants with percentage marks, you need SLC or equivalent with Mathematics, English and Science. PCL Nursing and Midwifery requires at least second division or 45% aggregate. Students with a Technical SLC or pre-diploma in a related subject can apply with at least 68.33% aggregate.

Important dates

For the 2083 full-fee cycle, applications ran from 12 to 27 May 2026 (Baisakh 29 to Jestha 13, 2083). That window is closed, so watch CTEVT for the next notice.

Fees

The application form fee for the 2083 full-fee cycle was Rs. 1,000. No institution may charge more; one that does can be fined Rs. 10,000 payable to the applicant.

How to apply

Submit the form online through the CTEVT ITMS portal. You need two recent colour passport-size photographs and a copy of your SLC or SEE certificate. If you passed an equivalent exam abroad, you also need a certified equivalence document recognised by the Government of Nepal.

Preparation tips

  • Your SEE result decides your rank for full-fee seats, so strong Mathematics, Science and English grades help in tie-breaks.

  • For scholarship seats, practise SEE-level MCQs in English, Mathematics and Science under time.

  • Apply within the window and check eligibility for each programme you list.
