Overview

The Olimpiada Nacional de Matemáticas para Alumnos de Primaria y Secundaria (ONMAPS) is a Mexican mathematics contest run each year by the Asociación Nacional de Profesores de Matemáticas (ANPM). It runs in state phases that lead to a national final. The national organiser's own site could not be read during research, so the details below come from state committees that run the contest and should be confirmed with them.

Who can apply

Students from primary school through secondary school take part, in categories by school grade starting at 4th grade of primary. State committees also report newer categories that extend into upper secondary (the 2026 edition is called ONMAPSB).

Exam pattern

A state committee described a first phase of ten problems in two hours in January 2024. For the 2025 edition, a state report described younger primary grades sitting a virtual exam in April, while older categories sat an in-person national exam in early May in Cholula, Puebla.

Important dates

The 2026 national olympiad was reported for Guadalajara, Jalisco, on 1 to 4 May 2026. Check your state committee for current dates.

Fees

Fees are set by each state. One state committee listed a school-selection fee of 250 pesos and an individual registration of 50 pesos; other states differ.

How to apply

Register through your state committee or your school's delegation, following its call.

Is there one national registration site?

Registration is handled by state committees, each publishing its own call, so start with the committee for your state.
