Overview

The Olimpiada Mexicana de Matemáticas (OMM) promotes mathematics through contests and chooses and trains the teams that represent Mexico in international mathematics competitions. It works through a national committee and committees in each state. The official site is in Spanish.

Who can apply

Participants are students from primary school to upper secondary school, entering through their state committee. Exact age and grade limits are set in each year's call and state notice, so read the current one.

Exam pattern

The official site lists these domestic contests:

Mexico sends teams to the International Mathematical Olympiad, the Iberoamerican Olympiad, the Pacific Rim Olympiad, the Central American and Caribbean Olympiad, the European Women's Mathematical Olympiad and the Romanian Masters in Mathematics.

How to apply

Contact the OMM committee of your state, which publishes its own call. The official site lists the national office contact details.

Preparation tips

  • Use the practice exams, study material and the Tzaloa magazine published on the official site.

  • The Canguro Matemático Mexicano (Kangaroo) contest, held in April 2026 for primary to upper-secondary students, is a lighter way to build experience.

Is there a fee?

Fees, if any, are set by each state committee in its call. The national site does not publish one fee for all.
