Overview
EGEL Plus is an assessment for students who have just finished, or are about to finish, a bachelor's degree in Mexico. It is designed by Ceneval (Centro Nacional de Evaluación para la Educación Superior) to check the essential knowledge and skills a graduate should have in their field, alongside general language and communication competencies. It is not an entrance exam or a licensing exam; it is a graduation-stage evaluation that many Mexican universities use as part of their own degree or certification requirements.

Who can take it
EGEL Plus is aimed at Mexican higher-education students who have completed, or are close to completing, one of the 43 bachelor's degree programmes it covers, and who have not yet obtained their professional title (titulación) in that degree. A student can register either through their institution (institutional registration, coordinated by the university) or individually through Ceneval's national registration for remote testing.

What it covers
Each EGEL Plus exam is built around the specific bachelor's degree being assessed — examples include Medicine, Civil Engineering, Law and Business Administration — plus a shared section on reading comprehension and written communication that applies across all 43 degrees.
Scoring and results
Results are published about 20 business days after the exam. A candidate's performance is reported as a testimonio (result statement) at the level of "satisfactory performance" or "outstanding performance." Ceneval states this result does not by itself confer the professional degree; that depends on the institution's own requirements.
Dates and fees
For the 2026 cycle, remote/national registration for EGEL Plus costs $1,885 MXN. Fees and session dates are set by Ceneval and published on its site each cycle; institutional registration fees may differ and are set by the university.
How to register
Registration is completed online through Ceneval's portal, either coordinated by the student's institution or, for the national/remote option, directly by the student.
Preparation tips
Because EGEL Plus tests knowledge from an entire degree programme rather than a single course, reviewing the guía de aplicación (application guide) Ceneval publishes for the specific degree is the most direct way to see what areas are covered.
Is EGEL Plus the same as a professional licence?
No. EGEL Plus is a knowledge assessment for graduating students. Whether it counts toward a professional title (titulación) depends on the policy of the student's own institution.
Can anyone take EGEL Plus, or only students from certain universities?
It is aimed at students who have completed or are about to complete one of the 43 covered bachelor's degrees in Mexico. Registration can be through the student's institution or, for the national option, directly through Ceneval.
How is the EGEL Plus exam structured?
It has a disciplinary section specific to the student's degree and a transversal section on language and communication, all in multiple-choice format with three options per question.
When are results available?
Ceneval publishes results roughly 20 business days after the exam date, as a testimonio of satisfactory or outstanding performance.
