Overview
The Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BMDC) is the statutory body that registers doctors and dentists to practise in Bangladesh and recognises medical and dental qualifications, including those granted outside the country.
BMDC is a registration body, not a single exam. The examination it sets itself is the Registration Qualifying Examination (RQE), held separately for MBBS and BDS. The papers BMDC asks for (a degree attested by the embassy of the country where you studied, and a passport with visa evidence of living abroad during the course) show that the RQE is the route for doctors and dentists who graduated outside Bangladesh. Passing it lets you move on to provisional registration, internship and full registration.
BMDC held an MBBS sitting in April 2026 and announced an MBBS/BDS sitting for October 2026.

Who can apply
To sit the RQE you need, among other papers listed by BMDC:
A BMDC Eligibility Certificate (original and copy).
Your original graduation certificate, academic transcripts and university testimonial. These must be attested by the embassy or high commission of the country where you graduated, and then again by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.
An English translation of your degree, notarised.
A downloaded page from that country's Ministry of Education showing your university, and the university's postal and email contact details.
A copy of your university's published result sheet.
SSC and HSC (or equivalent) certificates and mark sheets.
Three attested colour passport photos and a copy of your passport with visa evidence that you lived abroad during your studies.
An application with a CV and BMDC's prescribed form.
For the Eligibility Certificate itself, BMDC asks for SSC and HSC certificates and mark sheets, a birth registration certificate, an equivalence certificate from the Directorate General of Health Services for O and A level students, and the admit card and result sheet of the MBBS/BDS admission test.

Marking and results
Negative marking applies, so a wrong answer costs marks while a blank costs nothing. BMDC publishes the result as a list of qualified candidates by roll number on its notice board. The April 2026 MBBS result was published on 24 April 2026, the same day the exam was held.
Important dates
April 2026: MBBS RQE held on 24 April 2026, result published the same day.
May 2026: BMDC issued a notice on internships at government medical college hospitals for candidates who passed the April 2026 MBBS RQE.
October 2026: RQE for MBBS and BDS announced on 22 August 2026.
Check the BMDC notice for each sitting's application window and exam date.
Fees
As listed on the official site in 2026, the RQE processing fee is Tk 8,000, payable to Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council. The Eligibility Certificate fee is Tk 1,000, paid by online invoice.
How to apply
Make sure you hold a BMDC Eligibility Certificate.
Get your degree, transcripts and testimonial attested by the embassy of your study country and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.
Apply online through the BMDC payment portal (payment.bmdc.org.bd) when the notice for a sitting is published, and submit the listed documents by the deadline in the notice.
Sit the exam on the date and at the venue given in the notice.
After the exam
Passing the RQE is a step towards registration, not registration itself. You then apply for provisional registration (with the prescribed form, your degree or testimonial, the fee and a signed declaration on the Code of Medical Ethics), complete an internship, and apply for full registration with your degree, internship certificate, university registration card, e-TIN and National ID card, surrendering the provisional certificate.
Preparation tips
Revise the clinical subjects first: medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, and paediatrics carry 57 of the 100 questions.
Practise true/false questions under time pressure: 400 stems in 100 minutes is about 15 seconds per stem.
With negative marking, leave a stem blank when you are guessing blindly.
Start the attestation process early, since it involves two separate authorities.
FAQs
Who has to take the BMDC Registration Qualifying Examination?
Doctors and dentists who earned their MBBS or BDS outside Bangladesh and want to register with BMDC. The documents BMDC asks for (embassy-attested degree, passport with visa evidence of study abroad) are built around foreign graduates.
Is there negative marking in the BMDC RQE?
Yes. In the October 2026 MBBS pattern, each correct stem earns 0.25 mark and each wrong or double answer loses 0.06 mark.
Does passing the RQE mean I am registered?
No. After passing, you apply for provisional registration, complete an internship, and then apply for full registration.
