Overview

NARSA (Agence nationale de la sécurité routière) runs the driving licence exam in Morocco. The exam has two parts taken in order: a computer-marked theory exam (the "code") and a practical driving exam. This page follows the NARSA page in French. The question counts and pass marks below are the figures that page gave when it was checked. The page is dated 5 June 2025. Confirm the figures with NARSA before you book.

Moroccans and foreigners legally resident in Morocco can take the exam. The minimum age depends on the licence category:

Exam pattern

CategoryTheory questionsPass mark
AM2015 of 20
B4032 of 40
A1, A, C, D, EB, EC, ED4638 of 46
  • The theory exam takes place at the NARSA prefectural or provincial office (the vehicle registration centre).

  • The system picks questions automatically from its question bank and marks the exam automatically.

  • Topics include the driver, the vehicle, traffic rules, offences, road conditions and manoeuvres.

Practical exam

  • You cannot sit the practical exam until you have passed the theory exam.

  • Minimum practical training before the practical exam is 20 hours for A1, A, B and EB, and 30 hours for the other categories.

  • The practical exam has four stages: starting checks, manoeuvres on a closed area (for example lane changes, parallel parking and reversing), driving in a built-up area, and driving outside built-up areas.

After the exam

If you pass the theory exam but fail the practical exam, you sit only the practical exam again on your next attempt. After a failed practical exam the candidate gets a new summons within 15 days. Failing the second practical exam cancels the file, and you must open a new one to try again.

Preparation tips

  • Learn the code of the road in the language you will take the exam in.

  • Practise your starting checks and manoeuvres, because they form the first two stages of the practical exam.

  • Log your training hours so you meet the 20-hour or 30-hour minimum.

How many questions are in the category B theory exam?

The NARSA page lists 40 questions for category B, with 32 correct answers needed to pass.

Do I repeat the theory exam if I fail the driving test?

No. If you pass theory but fail the practical exam, the next attempt covers only the practical exam.
