Overview
Getting a driving licence in Afghanistan involves a theory stage and a practical driving test, run through iTrans, the system used to book and manage driving tests and licensing. The source page used here covers the practical test in detail but gives few specifics on the theory test, so this page is intentionally brief.

Licence stages
Licensing is organised in two stages: a Learner Licence first, then a Full Licence after further tests. Separate categories exist for cars, motorcycles and heavy vehicles.
How to apply
Tests are booked by phone or online through iTrans. Candidates must arrive about 30 minutes before their test slot so their application form can be processed and their identification checked; an eyesight check, photograph, signature and biometrics may also be required. Phone bookings are taken Saturday to Wednesday, 8am to 6pm (closed Thursday, Friday and holidays); online booking is available at any time.
Important
The number of theory questions, the pass mark and current fees were not confirmed from an official source, so they are left out here. Confirm these details with iTrans or your driving school before your test.
