Overview
KAZTEST is Kazakhstan's system for assessing proficiency in the Kazakh language. It is run by the National Testing Center in Astana. The Center describes it as a system for assessing the Kazakh of citizens of Kazakhstan and of foreign nationals who work in the country. The Center's 9 October 2026 announcement says that test is held in electronic format.
Exam pattern
KAZTEST is offered in two forms.
| Form | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Diagnostic | Finds out your current level of Kazakh |
| Certificated | Tests and officially certifies your level |
The Center publishes descriptions of the proficiency levels on its site. It reports that more than 30,000 people take KAZTEST each year, about 70% of them for diagnostic testing and about 30% for certification. Among certificated test-takers, it says 25% are Bolashak scholarship candidates and 50% are doctoral applicants.
Marking and results
Candidates receive a certificate showing their result. It can be downloaded from the personal account or found through the Center's certificate search site (certificate.testcenter.kz), where a QR code confirms that it is genuine. The Center also publishes yearly statistics for KAZTEST by region and social group, from 2020 to 2025.
Important dates
The Center posts test dates in its news section. As of 2 October 2026 it had announced a certificated KAZTEST on 9 October 2026. Check the news section for later dates.
Fees
The KAZTEST page does not state a fee. The Center keeps a price list (Баға прейскуранты) in its site menu, so check it there for the current amounts.
How to apply
Create a personal account on app.testcenter.kz, choose the test type and book a place. Practice tests are available inside the personal account. You must follow the Center's conduct rules during testing. For help, call the Center on +7 (7172) 57 59 88.
Preparation tips

Use the practice tests in your personal account before booking the certificated test.
Read the level descriptions on the Center's site to see which level your plan requires.
What is the difference between diagnostic and certificated KAZTEST?
Diagnostic testing tells you your current level. Certificated testing also issues an official certificate of your level.
How can an employer check a KAZTEST certificate?
Through the Center's certificate search site, where a QR code on the certificate confirms that it is genuine.
