Overview

Taiwan Police College (臺灣警察專科學校) provides the basic police education programme in Taiwan. Under the Police Education Act it runs a two-year junior college police officer programme, and its graduates serve as police officers. This page summarises the admission rules in the national laws and regulations database. The college publishes each year's admission guide, quotas, dates and test subjects. These are not covered here, so read the current guide before applying.

Who can apply

  • For the two-year junior college police officer programme, applicants must have graduated from a public or registered private senior high school or equivalent, or have equivalent academic standing.

  • The college's admission rules are set by the college, approved by the Ministry of the Interior and filed with the Ministry of Education.

  • Admitted candidates must also pass a background check before they can enter.

Special admission routes

  • Special talent route: applicants with a recognised record in judo, air rifle shooting, taekwondo, swimming or athletics, qualify if they placed in the top three in a national competition, or were selected to represent the country, within the last two years. Judo and taekwondo also require second-degree dan rank, and air rifle requires A-class status. They must also pass the admission exam, with a written score at least 80 percent of that year's lowest admitted score, and the college may add a skills test. These places are capped at 2 percent of the year's quota.

  • Kinmen and Matsu route: senior high graduates from Kinmen or Matsu, aged 25 or under, with a school average of at least 75 and conduct of at least 80, may be recommended by the local county government. Each year, 1 to 4 come from Kinmen and 1 to 2 from Matsu. They must pass the physical and oral tests. Graduates are assigned back to their home area for six years.

Fees

As listed in the fee standard on the law database in 2026, the application fee for the junior college police officer programme is NT$937 for both the regular and the continuing student groups.

After the exam

  • Students in the basic police education programme may receive a public-funded allowance while studying. Graduates must serve a minimum period after graduating, or repay the cost of their education.

  • The Central Police University may admit graduates with outstanding results, or with special talents, through selection or trial admission.

Note

This page covers the legal rules only. Exam dates, quotas, subjects and application steps are in the college's yearly admission guide.
