Overview

Rendészeti szakközépiskolák/rendvédelmi technikumok (law enforcement vocational secondary schools/technikums), run in locations including Körmend and Miskolc, provide a state-recognised programme leading to a Police Officer (technician-level) qualification in Hungary. Admission is run through the national Police Career Portal (karrier.police.hu) in coordination with the individual schools.

Who can apply

Applicants must be Hungarian citizens (or hold immigration permission), be legally competent, have a permanent domestic residence, hold a secondary school leaving certificate (or be due to obtain one by 2 July 2026), have a clean criminal record, and generally be between 18 and 33 years old at the start of the academic year.

Exam pattern

The admission procedure includes a professional-oriented general knowledge test, a physical fitness assessment, and a psychological/suitability evaluation, used together to select candidates suited to law enforcement training and the chosen specialisation.

Important dates

For the 2026/2027 academic year, applications for the programme were due by 16 February 2026, submitted through the Police Career Portal.

How to apply

Applications are submitted through the Police Career Portal at karrier.police.hu, which directs candidates to the relevant rendvédelmi technikum for further steps.

After the exam

Candidates who complete the roughly two-year programme and pass the admission and training process qualify as police officers at technician level and can be posted to operational duty.

Preparation tips

Because the admission procedure combines a general knowledge test with physical fitness and psychological evaluation, maintaining fitness standards alongside general knowledge revision, and preparing required documents (residency proof, clean record certificate, school leaving certificate) well ahead of the application deadline, helps avoid delays.
