Overview

The Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET) is a common entrance exam conducted by AIIMS New Delhi's Examination Section to recruit Nursing Officers for AIIMS institutions and other participating central government hospitals and institutes. AIIMS runs NORCET as a numbered, recurring cycle (for example, NORCET-10, NORCET-11), each opened through its own notice and information brochure on the AIIMS Examination Section portal. As of this review, NORCET-10 (Notice No. 17/2026) was the most recently completed cycle, already at its seat allocation stage, with a Final Vacancy Position and an Online Seat Allocation notice (Notice No. 73/2026) published; a NORCET-11 cycle had also been listed as a recruitment category on the portal.

Selection process

Candidates register and apply online through the AIIMS Examination Section portal for a specific NORCET cycle. AIIMS publishes an Information Brochure and a Frequently Asked Questions document for each cycle covering eligibility, exam pattern and marking, and later publishes a rank-wise individual result to qualified candidates, followed by online seat allocation rounds in which candidates choose their institute/hospital posting based on rank and vacancy availability.

How to apply

Applications for a NORCET cycle are submitted online through the AIIMS Examination Section portal (aiimsexams.ac.in), under the specific notice number for that cycle. Results, seat allocation and vacancy updates for a cycle are also published only on this portal, under that cycle's own notice.

Preparation tips

Because AIIMS runs NORCET as a series of separately numbered cycles, each with its own information brochure, pattern and vacancy count, always check the specific NORCET cycle's own notice and brochure on the AIIMS Examination Section portal rather than relying on details from an earlier cycle.
