Overview
Algeria's Ministry of National Education recruits teachers for public primary, middle and secondary schools through a competition run on qualifications (concours sur titre), not a written exam. Candidates register online, are ranked on their diploma, academic path and experience, and take an interview with a selection committee.
The notice of 11 December 2025 announced the 2025-2026 round, with 40,500 posts in total. The ministry's communique said that teachers already employed on contract in 2025-2026 may take part.

Someone previously dismissed or removed from a public post may not take part.
Required diplomas, by grade:
Primary and middle school teacher: a master's or state engineer degree in the required fields for each subject, or a licence or higher-studies diploma in the required fields.
Secondary school teacher: a magister degree, or a master's or state engineer degree, in the required fields for each subject.
The list of accepted qualifications for each subject follows a joint ministerial order dated 28 September 2025.
Exam pattern
Candidates are ranked by merit using these criteria: how well their training matches the post (diploma subject and study path), additional training in the same field, work or studies completed in the same field, professional experience, the date the diploma was obtained, and the result of an interview with a selection committee.
Important dates
Registration and submission of files ran for 15 working days from the first announcement in the print press, according to the ministry notice. The minister was reported in the press as announcing a start on 16 December 2025 and a registration period of 20 days.
How to apply
Register and submit the file online only, on the ONEC platform at concours.onec.dz. The file contains a written application, an identity card copy, the required diploma with the transcript of the study path, proof of national service status, work certificates showing teaching experience as a substitute or contract teacher (where relevant), proof of further training above the required diploma (where relevant), and employer's permission for serving civil servants. A deposit receipt can be downloaded from the same platform. Candidates are responsible for the accuracy of what they upload, and false information can cancel a success.
After the exam
The ministry's communique says every step runs through the education sector's information system, including an automated ranking of candidates based on checked information and the uploaded documents.
