Overview

The Kuwait Qudurat is the Academic Aptitude Test (also called the Unified National Test) run by the Office of the Assistant Vice President for Evaluation and Measurement at Kuwait University. Kuwait University combines your secondary school percentage with your aptitude test scores into an "equivalent grade-point average", and uses that to rank applicants for most colleges.

Who can apply

Students in grade 12 or its equivalent, and high school graduates, who want to enrol at Kuwait University or Abdullah Al Salem University, or who want to study medicine or engineering on a domestic or overseas scholarship. Students from international schools can apply too. Students already enrolled at Kuwait University cannot register, with one exception: the French test, for those who want to major in French.

Exam pattern

Four subject tests exist.

Kuwait University publishes sample papers and topic lists for the Mathematics, English and Arabic tests on its evaluation and measurement pages. Chemistry is also listed as a test in the 2026/2027 college rules and has a pass mark, but the FAQs list only the four subjects above as open for registration.

Which tests each college needs

Under the 2026/2027 rules, the weights used to compute the equivalent grade-point average are:

Social Sciences10%90%

Some colleges also set a minimum secondary school percentage (for example 85 percent for Medicine and Dentistry, and 80 percent for Pharmacy, Public Health, Allied Health Sciences and Engineering and Petroleum). Business Administration needs at least 40 percent in the English test. Several colleges add a personal interview after admission. In some programmes a test is used only to place you at the right level and does not enter the average. The College of Science and the College of Law do not require the aptitude test.

Marking and results

The pass mark is 60 percent for the English test and 50 percent for the Mathematics, Arabic, Chemistry and French tests. Scores are released within two weeks of the test date, and you can check them on the university's website or through the Sahel app. You can appeal for one week from the date scores are published. Cheating cancels your score.

Important dates

Registration and test dates are announced each year on the Instagram account of the Center of Evaluation and Measurement, @cemvpaa. You can sit the test up to three times in an academic year, and the highest score counts, provided it is less than two years old.

Fees

Payment is made online by K-net only. After payment is collected, cancellation and refunds are not allowed. Check the current amount in the registration portal.

How to apply

  1. Open the Aptitude Exams section on the Center's website and follow the link to the registration portal.

  2. Log in with your civil ID number and the password format given in the instructions.

  3. Check your details, and choose the number of tests, the subjects, the Mathematics test language and a date.

  4. Accept the regulations, pay through K-net, and print your admission ticket.

Your test location is shown on your ticket, and you cannot choose or change it.

On test day

Arrive one hour before the test starts, and bring an official photo ID (civil ID, passport, driver's licence or Kuwait Mobile ID) and your entry card. Only a pencil and an eraser are allowed in the room. Phones, watches, earphones and other smart devices are banned. Late arrivals are not admitted, and a missed test cannot be rescheduled.

After the exam

Scores are valid for two years from the test date. A student who did not take the test can enrol only in the College of Science or the College of Law, provided their marks meet the college's requirements.

Is the Unified National Test the same as the Academic Aptitude Test?

How long are my scores valid?

Two years from the date of the test.

How many times can I take the test?

Up to three times in one academic year. The highest score within the two-year validity period is the one used.

Does the university offer a preparation course?

No. The office does not run training courses for the test, but it publishes sample tests and topic lists.
