Overview

The HSA is the high-school competency assessment run by Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU). Universities accept the score as one route into undergraduate admission. Part of the detail below is from the official HSA site and part, such as the 2026 fee and rounds, from reports on the government policy portal. Confirm current details on hsa.edu.vn.

Exam pattern

The test is computer-based and lasts 195 minutes in three parts, scored out of 150 in total.

PartQuestionsTime
1. Mathematics and data processing (compulsory)5075 minutes
2. Language and literature (compulsory)5060 minutes

In the 2025 structure, Part 1 mixed 35 four-option questions with 15 short-answer questions. For Part 3, candidates picked either a science module (three of physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography) or an English module. Questions are tied to the 2018 national curriculum, and some are grouped around one shared data context.

Marking and results
