Overview

The Promotion of Academic Olympiad and Development of Science Education Foundation (POSN) runs Thailand's academic olympiads under royal patronage, chaired by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. It identifies students to represent Thailand in international olympiads. The Thai Mathematical Olympiad (TMO) is its mathematics track, which leads to the International Mathematical Olympiad.

Syllabus

POSN covers ten disciplines: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, earth and space science, astronomy, geography, linguistics and junior science (IJSO).

Levels or stages

Stage 1: first camp

Qualifying exams in each subject select students for the first training camp.

Stage 2: second camp

Advanced training for those preparing to represent Thailand internationally.

Thailand uses these selection processes to choose representatives for competitions including the International Mathematical Olympiad and the International Earth Science Olympiad.

How to apply

POSN has more than 12 regional centres across the country, and the site lists exam archives for practice and scholarships for selected students. Eligibility, exam dates and fees for each cycle are not on the pages read, so check the current announcement; the contact listed is ac.olympiads at posn.or.th.

Where can I practise?

POSN publishes archives of past exams on its site.
