Overview

Mongolia holds national subject olympiads for secondary school students, organised by subject bodies. For example, the Mongolian Informatics Association runs the informatics olympiad in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and universities. Each subject has its own organiser and rules, so this page describes the pattern seen across the examples reviewed rather than one single exam.

Who can take part

Entry rules depend on the subject. The Mongolian Biology Olympiad, set up in 1991, targets students in grades 10 to 12.

Stages

The Mongolian Biology Olympiad, organised by the Department of Biology at the National University of Mongolia, has three stages:

  1. School level: a multiple-choice test, with about 2,000 students.

  2. Province level: multiple-choice and true or false tests, with about 200 advancing.

  3. National level: true or false tests and practical exams for about 30 students.

The Mongolian Informatics Association runs the national informatics olympiad each year in cooperation with the Ministry. The first one was held in 1987.

Note

This summary is built from secondary reports of two subject olympiads. Confirm dates, grades and rules with the relevant organiser for your subject.

Is there one single Mongolia Olympiad?

No. Each subject has its own national olympiad with its own organiser, although they follow similar school, province and national stages.
