(a) Ozone (O3O_3): Ozone is a molecule formed by three atoms of oxygen.


Formation in Upper Atmosphere:

Ozone at the higher levels of the atmosphere is a product of ultraviolet (UV) radiation acting on oxygen (O2O_2) molecules. The high-energy UV radiation splits apart molecular oxygen (O2O_2) into free oxygen (OO) atoms. These highly reactive free atoms then combine with molecular oxygen to form ozone:

Effect on Ecosystem:
